In
1995, Mayor Kay Granger envisioned a project involving children from neighborhoods all
across the city to build models or do murals about what's important in their
neighborhoods. The final product, which was on display in the atrium of Fort Worth City
Hall, demonstrated the universality of architecture and how it shapes our lives, even when
we are young. David Stanford, AIA - 1995 chapter president - coordinated
the building of the downtown Fort Worth area for this project. Others involved were: Ray
Wilson, Daphne Perry, James Nader, Bob LeMond, Jay Bradford, Jeff Wethoff, Suzie Adams and
also Quorum Architects who donated the services of Kim Bennett, Brian Perry, Draoun Johns
and Rola Elmasri.
The pictures represent Fort Worth neighborhoods - block 4 shows AIAFW's city in
the background with one of the neighborhoods in the foreground, and block 5 is the actual
downtown area assembled by AIAFW.
