…….or "How AIAFW and SDAFW Helped to Design A Hunger-Free Community"

What a super event co-sponsored by the Fort Worth Chapters of The American Institute of Architects and the Society of Design Administration! There are so many people to thank for helping to make our first CANSTRUCTION® a huge success.

Our appreciation to the 22nd Annual Governor's Volunteer Leadership Conference for giving AIAFW the opportunity to participate in this worthwhile competition. Without their call, it would not have made it on our schedule for 1999.

Many thanks to Joan and Lee Roy Hahnfeld, FAIA for serving as Honorary Chairmen along with Carole and Scott Murray for the Food Bank's "Get In The Swing Against Hunger" Gala, and to the Tarrant Area Food Bank for allowing CANSTRUCTION™ to become the focus of their annual gala.

We are so proud to announce we gave approximately 30,000 cans/lbs of food to the Tarrant Area Food Bank. In addition, the firms donated any unused money to the cause, $3500. These firms were Gideon Toal, Hahnfeld Associates and Huckabee & Associates.

We saw a lot of tired faces and dragging feet by Monday's end…….but after the awards were announced, there was much hand shaking and congratulations among the teams, with a "Just Wait Until Next Year!" attitude among team captains. Watch for the "2000 Challenge"!
