1999 EXCELLENCE IN ARCHITECTURE AWARDS PROGRAM

The Fort Worth Chapter held its annual "Excellence in Architecture" competition in September, and the awards have been announced. Jurors for this year's competition were Natalye L. Appel, AIA of Natalye Appel and Associates in Houston; Mark Dilworth, AIA of Omniplan in Dallas, and Ron Wommack, AIA of Ron Wommack Architect in Dallas.

Natalye L. Appel AIA
Natalye Appel and Associates Houston

The work of Natalye Appel and Associates, familiar to Texas architects due to it's wide publication, has been recognized with numerous AIA awards. Ms. Appel received her undergraduate degree from Rice University and a Master of Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania. In addition to her professional work, she has been a studio critic at Rice University, The University of Houston, and The University of Texas in Austin.

Mark Dilworth AIA
OMNIPLAN Dallas

A Principal of OMNIPLAN, Mr. Dilworth is a graduate of both The University of Texas at Arlington and Rice University. In his twenty-two year tenure at the firm he has designed many significant structures including NorthPark IV office tower and Tollway Plaza in Dallas. In Fort Worth he has completed thirteen projects at Alcon Laboratories including the award-winning R. D. Alexander Corporate Headquarters.

Ron Wommack AIA
Ron Wommack Architect Dallas

A graduate of Texas Tech University, Mr. Wommack has been recognized by the AIA at the state and local levels for his innovative urban residential work in Dallas. Prior to founding his firm in 1989, he worked for The Oglesby Group and Frank Welch Associates. He also teaches at The University of Texas at Arlington in addition to being an active member of the Dallas Chapter/AIA.
