AIA FORT WORTH EXCELLENCE IN ARCHITECTURE AWARDS
PROGRAM
The AIA Fort Worth Excellence in Architecture Awards
program seeks to recognize design excellence by its members and
students, and to promote public interest in architectural excellence.
Eligibility is limited to members of the AIA Fort
Worth Chapter (AIAFW). Students currently enrolled in accredited Texas
colleges or universities may enter in a separate awards program
sponsored by the AIAFW.
Submissions must be executed in an office within the
jurisdiction of the AIA Fort Worth Chapter. Where one Architect is not
the sole author, all participants substantially contributing to the
design of the project must be given credit.
All entries must have been completed after January 1,
1998. The Design Awards Committee reserves the right to disqualify any
entry that does not comply with the eligibility requirements.
All projects will be evaluated on excellence in
design. The jurors are charged to make such awards as they recognize and
deem proper, regardless of category, project size, or budget.
Submission Requirements
Submissions shall be 35mm slides arranged and numbered
in a standard carousel slide tray enclosed in a standard carousel box
with no name identification on the exterior. A maximum of 20 slides is
allowed per submittal. Name of the project and the Architect shall
remain anonymous during the jury. A separate tray is required for each
entry.
The first slide of each entry must be a title slide,
containing the following information:
Project Type ONE SENTENCE Concept Statement Project
Square Footage Project Location Budget (optional) Date of Completion
Following the title slide, each entry shall include
drawing and/or image slides that give the jury a complete understanding
of the work.
Each entrant must submit a one page data sheet
including a brief description and a single image of the project. This
description shall include the program requirements and the solution of
the project and shall be typewritten and double-spaced on a single sheet
of 8 ½ "x 11" paper. Submit four loose copies of the data
sheet in the carousel box. Project Identification
Provide project identification with each carousel in a
sealed plain, opaque No. 10 envelope, marked "Concealed
Identification". Include the following information:
Name of Project Location Owner/Tenant/Developer
Architect's Name, Address and Phone Architectural Team (if applicable)
Consultants General Contractor Completion Date
Include either 5X7 photographs or digital images
(preferred) on CD, in JPEG or TIFF format in the carousel box. These
images will be used following the jury for publicity purposes.
Categories
The 2003 Excellence in Architecture Program entries
may be submitted in the following categories:
General Design Project The design architect may
enter this category which includes all design projects: architecture,
urban design, interiors, historic restoration, adaptive reuse,
furniture, graphics and details.
Collaborative Project In recognition of the
considerable contribution to our built environment that is made by the
entire team on joint venture projects, this category is open to our
Chapter Members who perform the services of 'Architect of Record', where
the Design Architect is not a member of AIA Fort Worth.
Un-built Project This category recognizes works
which, although not constructed, reflect the quality of architectural
thought by its designer. Un-built entries must have been intended for
construction. Completion date requirement is waived for this category.
Student Project Entries in this category will
require digital submissions and therefore will be solicited separately.
