CALL FOR
ENTRIES: 2002 EXCELLENCE IN ARCHITECTURE AWARDS PROGRAM
The AIA Fort Worth Excellence in Architecture Awards program
seeks to recognize design excellence by its members and students,
and to promote public interest in architectural excellence.
Eligibility
Eligibility is limited to members of the Fort Worth AIA Chapter
or students currently enrolled in accredited Texas colleges or
universities.
Entries must be submitted by the architectural design firm, and
the design submission must be primarily executed in an office
within the jurisdiction of the Fort Worth AIA Chapter. Where one
Architect is not the sole author, all participants substantially
contributing to the design of the project must be given credit.
All entries must have been designed or constructed within the
last five years. An individual or a firm may enter any number of
projects within each of the project types. For multi-building
projects, the Architect submitting the project (or portion
thereof) shall designate the authorship of each portion of the
project. The Design Awards Committee reserves the right to
disqualify any entry that does not comply with the eligibility
requirements. Fort Worth Chapter AIA does not accept
responsibility for errors in submission.
Awards
All projects will be evaluated on excellence in design,
regardless of project size, budget, type or location. The jurors
are charged to make such awards as they recognize and deem proper.
Awards may include the following:
 | Honor Award |
 | Merit Award |
 | Student Award (Two $500.00 Scholarship Awards will be given
in the Student Award Category.) |

maximum of 20 slides is allowed per submittal. Name of the project
and the Architect shall remain anonymous during the jury; do not
include any identification in the slides. A separate tray is
required for each entry. It is suggested that entrants obtain
duplicate slides to protect against accidental loss.
The first slide of each entry must be a title slide, containing
the following information: Project Type ONE SENTENCE Concept

(optional) Date of Completion

plans that adequately describe the configuration and envelope are
required. Plans should include a graphic scale and north arrow.
No specific views of the completed work are required. However,
slides shall give the jury a complete and comprehensive
understanding of the work as it pertains to the project type in
which it is submitted. Any project may be disqualified at the sole
discretion of the jury if the submission does not completely
describe the total project.

 | Urban Design/Planning |
 | Details-Furniture-Graphics Projects |
 | Renovation/Restoration/Adaptive Reuse |

structures. The category includes both pure restoration and
architectural changes to existing buildings. Entrants should
use discretion in determining whether a specific project
constitutes renovation or new architecture.
Adaptive re-use and historic restoration entries shall
clearly distinguish the work performed from the existing, both
graphically and with "before and after" photographs.
 | Un-built Projects |
The purpose of this category is to recognize work which,

architectural thought by its entrants. Entries to the Un-built
Projects category shall have been intended for
construction/implementation; that is, they shall be
"real" projects.
Awards
Architects of projects receiving awards will be required to
